Genoese school of painting
Genoese school was formed in Italy around the 1630s under the influence of the Flemish and Venetian painters and Caravaggio. Some characteristic features of the school are the treatment of religious subjects as scenes from the life of the common people, the introduction of pastoral and animalistic genres, which later enjoyed great popularity in Western European art, as well as the depiction of romantic scenery where inspiration was drawn from nature.
