MARINE

MARINE (it. marina, from an armor. marinus - sea; it is mute. Seestiick, English, фр. marine) - a sea look, a picture (also drawing, an engraving), representing the sea. The basic in a genre the MARINE - an embodiment of sea elements in its this or that manifestation, and also the image of fight of the person with it. As an independent genre of M appeared in Holland at the beginning 17в.

The artist specializing in area of the MARINE is called as a marine painter. Outstanding marine painters were in Holland in 17 century Jan Porsellis, Simone de Vliger, Willem van de Velda, in France in 18 century Joseph Berne, in England in 19 century William Turner, in Russia in 19 century - I.K.Ayvazovsky, A.P. Bogolyubov.
