Painting by Jacopo Tintoretto “Minerva Sending Away Mars from Peace and Prosperity”. The size of the painting 148 x 168 cm, oil on canvas. The picture ranks among compositions of mythological cycle for the Palazzo Ducale, which were supposed to symbolize the wisdom of the Venetian authorities, and were intended allegorically glorify Venice: as Queen of the seas (“Bacchus, Venus and Ariadne”), military power (“Vulcan's Forge”), the wisdom of diplomacy (“Minerva Sending Away Mars from Peace and Prosperity”), richness and beauty (“Mercury and the Three Graces”).
