The terms used in relation to the civilizations of ancient Greece and Rome, as well as their influence on subsequent art. Although in most cases they are interchangeable, there is still a small difference in the use of these two terms. Denotes the physical remains of the Ancient Greek and Roman culture - monuments and sculptures, this topic was particularly popular in the XVIII century (Giovanni Paolo Panini, Francesco Tsukkarelli). Classic includes a stylistic continuation of the ancient tradition (Jacques-Louis David, Hiram Powers).
