Since the 80 - ies of XX century, multi-storey houses of improved planning and townhouses began to be built here. The developers have focused on the so-called casa al mare – "houses by the sea." However, in our understanding it is not houses, and apartments.
Italian families from the "hinterland" bought them or rented them for the summer, came on weekends to swim in the sea, transported there elderly parents and sent their children to them. Since the early 2000s, vacation in casa al mare has rapidly become fashionable.
The uniqueness of Emilia-Romagna is that nowhere else IN ITALY houses by the sea to build almost impossible. Everywhere – from Sicily in the South to San Remo in the North-such construction is unthinkable because of the abundance of ancient buildings, protected by the state.
