3. The figure of the main character of the picture, Hercules, is written in a complicated pose. In addition, the painter somewhat distorts it, in order to emphasize the relief of the muscles of the hero. I think that it is a pathbreaking painting method. Annibale Carracci was the first artist, who used this mythological plot. About the choice of Hercules between the path of vice and the paths of virtue, he could learn from ancient literature, where this story appears many times.
