For the painting of this artist is characterized by a special type of female beauty, inspired by a heightened interest in the world of sorceresses and witches. To create female images, he chose models with pale skin, reddish-golden hair and dreary look. In this picture the nymphs surrounded Hilas, one of which sadly looks at him, dragging him into the depths of the lake.
