Albert Beck Wenzell is famous for his images of the scenes of the "Belle Epoque". In this picture he showed the society of the nouveaux riches, which appeared at that time. A characteristic feature of the time were marriage of convenience between girls from wealthy families and poor aristocrats. The young women depicted on the canvas are luxuriously richly dressed, and their poses give off arrogance. And the artist deliberately exaggerates these qualities, but he does it brilliantly and masterfully. [Expand]
