Of course, they decorate it, but they also say that the water here is still standing, which contrasts sufficiently with the atmosphere of freshness, life or dynamism in which female images are placed usually. But, as it turns out, in this lost place, where time has almost stopped behind dense reeds, you can see a young beautiful heroine. The artist called her a nymph, but I would call her a siren. She gazes at the viewer from under half-eyelid eyelids; it seems that she is saying or singing something and thus enchants, hypnotizes. And this mystical, mysterious girl is well combined with the surrounding landscape, which separates her world from the outside. It seems that if you do not look away from her, she will forever lure you into the world among lily pads, and the viewer will lose track of time. At home, I would not place such a picture, but she could find her place somewhere, where visitors are waiting for their turn, she would not let them get bored.
The picture has a complex composition with elements of both landscape and still life. The main object is a girl who braids her hair. The author depicted her at the time of the morning toilet, so she was half dressed. Of course, the nude figure of the heroine is the main theme of the canvas. But it is filled with many other details that disperse a little attention. The dark background, on which the silhouette of the heroine appears, is well combined with the whiteness of her skin and with multi-colored clothes that cover her lower body. Fabrics have a large clear pattern, bright, rich colors and harmoniously complement the image of the girl, and their shades are well combined with the color of her hair.
