It is vertical format painting. Jean-Leon Gerome depicted a woman who is a personification of idea of republic. She is standing in her beauty and fairness – nicely-looking and apparently posing for her portrait. Meantime, she is holding sword (although it keeping down) but apparently is ready to fight for the freedom and justice. The artwork is perfect and ideal for French interior style of home decoration. The painting is fabulous and magnificent. I like the painting “The Republic” for its idea [Expand]
