In other cultures, such as Japanese, where the depiction of nudity did not have a negative connotation, shunga's erotic engravings sought to depict half-dressed partners. When the attitude of society towards the image of nudity began to change, sometimes conflict situations arose � in the event that a work of art ceased to correspond to generally accepted ideas about the decent. For example, some representatives of the Roman Catholic Church once organized the so-called "fig leaf campaign", designed to hide images of nudity in works of art starting with frescoes by the Italian Renaissance artist Michelangelo. By now, the Church has already removed these fig leaves and restored the works. On the other hand, in ancient Greek art, nudity was in the order of things, starting from the Archaic period, and depicted gods and heroes in a state of heroic nakedness in paintings and sculptures. This continued throughout the Classical and Roman periods. Nudity has become one of the permanent genres of fine arts, especially painting, sculpture and photography. Works of this genre depict people without clothes, and these images are usually conditioned by stylistic and plot conditions (for example, innocence), and there is a difference between images of a naked body and just a naked person. Nude can be the figure of a goddess or an ancient Greek hero, for whom the lack of clothing is a common condition, and therefore the sexual background of the image does not prevail. A naked figure, such as a prostitute or a businessman, who usually wear clothes, suggests that these clothes were removed from them. And, therefore, speaks of sexual activity (see also: nudity and sexuality). Such an approach to the image of the body was extremely rare in European art until the second half of the XIX century; as a rule, a work depicting a naked woman was immediately identified as "Venus" or another Greco-Roman goddess in order to justify the depiction of nudity. Using the example of the work of the famous British artist of the second half of the twentieth century, Francis Bacon, one can argue about whether the depicted figure is naked or just naked. And although tastes have changed dramatically, images of half-dressed figures still retain attractiveness and even outnumber copies of classic images of the naked body. Nudity in art, shown to the general public, is simpler and more acceptable than the demonstrative nudity of a real person. For example, a statue or a painting depicting a naked person may be shown in a public space where "real" nudity is unacceptable. At the same time, there are many works of art depicting an almost naked person covered with only a part of his clothes, and even then, as if by accident. Some are attracted to the "study of nudity", which leads to impersonal, objective images of the human body; others believe that this genre should be approached as selectively as, for example, landscape.
