PANDORA
("All gifted"), in Greek mythology, the first woman, created by Athena and Hephaestus. Zeus, angry that Prometheus stole fire from the people to the gods decided to take revenge and ordered the people to create a woman. Hephaestus molded it by mixing earth with water, Athena dressed her in a silver dress and crowned with a golden crown (Hes. Theog. 567- 590).
