P. seduced the near Epimetheus - brother of Prometheus, Epimetheus who persuaded not to take anything from Zeus. When P. opened vessel handed to her by the gods, which were made all human vices and misery, disease has spread along the ground and disaster. Only hope remained on the bottom of the vessel, as P. slammed the lid; so people were deprived of even the hope of a better life (Hes. Opp. 50-105).
Daughter P. and Epimetheus - Pyrrhus and the son of Prometheus Deucalion became spouses and by the will of the gods survived the deluge (Ovid. Met. I 318-417). In the myth of P.-obvious discredit the feminine as pernicious and false statements in an era of patriarchy.
